Lion Chemical Drilling Industry Solutions
Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) or cellulose gum is a cellulose derivative with carboxymethyl group in its chain. CMC is a physiologically inert, chemically stable, odorless and tasteless substance which safe for health and environment. The other properties of CMC include high viscosity, non-toxic nature, and hypoallergenic. Major raw materials used in the manufacture of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) include plant-derived cellulose, caustic soda, and monochloroacetic acid. CMC is widely used as thickener, stabilizer, binder and dispersant in variety of applications such as food and beverages, pharmaceutical and cosmetics, detergents, oil and gas, paper processing and others.
Polyanionic cellulose (Polyanionic cellulose) referred to as PAC, is from natural cellulose by chemical modification and the obtained water-soluble derivatives of cellulose ethers, is an important water-soluble cellulose ether, white or slightly yellow powder, non-toxic, tasteless, it can be dissolved in water, have good heat stability, and salt-tolerance, anti-bacterial and strong. The product slurry prepared with a good drop of fluid loss, and suppression, of a higher temperature.
Widely used in Oil drilling fluid control additives, especially in salt water wells and offshore oil drilling.
Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and Polyanionic Cellulose(PAC) can be used in drilling fluid, fixing fluid and fracturing fluid. In drilling fluid, it works as viscosifier, filtration reducer and rheology controller; in fixing fluid, it is used to control fluid viscosity, suspend heavy objects and avoid fluid loss; also in fracturing fluid, it is used to carry stuffing and avoid fluid loss.
Our product can meet API 13A, or we can produce according to customer’s requirement.
It is a combined filtration controller and minimal viscosifier in fresh and salt water based drilling systems. It is ideal in low solid mud, designed for fast penetration
Xanthan Gum is a biopolymer obtained in the process of action of Xanthomonas Campestris bacteria on glucose substances. Xanthan Gum polymer is used in drilling technology as a primary agent to regulate the structural strength and viscosity of clayless muds. The product is resistant to electrolytes, effective in both fresh and salt water (up to full saturation with NaCl). Xanthan Gum is commonly used for muds for drilling and reconstruction of oil wells in quantities of 2-5 kg/m3.
Properties
Xanthan Gum is a creamy white powder that is easily soluble in fresh water and sea water. The water solution of the polymer is characterized by high apparent viscosity and structural strength, and in conditions of fast flow, by low plastic viscosity.
As a viscosifier, Xanthan gum (oil drilling grade) is widely used in drilling mud. It can increase the viscosity of the mud. In addition, Xanthan gum (oil drilling grade) is a good carrier for drill cuttings. When mixed into water, Xanthan gum (oil drilling grade) swells. As a result, the mixture exhibits a gel-like consistency. This viscous mixture can trap cuttings in suspension. Therefore, these cuttings will not fall on the drill pipe due to gravity.
In oil drilling, Xanthan fluid products can control the rheology of drilling fluids. Its main role is to enhance the strength of the gel, thereby improving the suspension. This helps to transport ordinary drill cuttings and heavier gravel and pebbles. This keeps the hole open and transports the cuttings outward.
Xanthan gum (oil drilling grade) has many other industrial uses. Including but not limited to glues, inks and etc..
