Polyacrylamide Emulsion Production Process
Polyacrylamide emulsions are produced using reverse emulsion polymerization technology:
1. Mineral oil and emulsifier are used as the oil phase, and acrylamide aqueous solution is used as the aqueous phase. A pre-emulsion is formed through high-shear emulsification.
2. An initiator is added for low-temperature polymerization.
3. A reverse agent is added, and the mixture is filtered to obtain the finished product.
Polyacrylamide Powder Production Process
Polyacrylamide powder is produced using homopolymerization or copolymerization techniques:
1. Homopolymerization: Acrylamide monomer aqueous solution is used alone, and an initiator is added for polymerization to produce nonionic PAM. The resulting powder is obtained through granulation, drying, pulverization, and sieving. The molecular chain has a single functional group.
2. Copolymerization: Acrylamide is combined with acrylic acid or cationic monomers to form a mixed aqueous solution. An initiator is added for polymerization to produce anionic PAM or cationic PAM. The resulting powder is obtained through granulation, drying, pulverization, and sieving. The charge characteristics can be controlled by adjusting the monomer ratio.
Polyacrylamide Emulsions: Dissolve quickly, within 5-10 minutes, but have a lower solids content, 35%-55%.
Polyacrylamide Powders: Have a high solids content, ≥88%, but take longer to dissolve, around 50 minutes, and require sophisticated dissolving equipment.
